About the Speaker/s
After graduating with a double degree in Commerce (major Marketing) and Arts (major Professional Writing), Kate Campbell was always eager to learn and develop herself, quickly getting bored when things got easy. Along with puppies, strong coffee and yoga pants, Kate thrives off building connections and is completely obsessed with helping business owners develop strategies to take their business to the next level.
After working in corporate Marketing for 8 years, and needing a creative outlet, Kate founded and continues to operate the successful wellness Blog, Chief Active. Through Chief, she met an a variety of business owners and noticed a pattern in their marketing activity (or lack thereof.)
She noticed that many of these businesses weren’t able to communicate a clear direction through marketing activity that was very ad-hoc and inconsistent with their brands and their target audiences. Seeing an opportunity to help these business owners and share her expertise in the marketing field, she launched her marketing consulting company, Kate Emiley, in late 2017.
Kate focuses on helping her 1-on-1 clients become the marketing expert by working with them to develop a Strategic Marketing Roadmap and Action Plan. By outlining their goals and exact next steps, Kate helps her clients to confidently execute and evaluate the success of their marketing efforts to achieve explosive results. She’s also running an intimate workshop in May with plans to launch an online course mid-year.
Simon Mathonnet is the Head of Digital Strategy at Splashbox, a Melbourne digital marketing, design and web development agency that specialises in enterprise eCommerce clients. Simon personally oversees more than 100 digital marketing campaigns, devising bespoke digital strategies across SEO, SEM, CRO and social media, as well as managing the rollout and technical implementation of each campaign.
His role also sees him serve as an advisor to Splashbox’s vast roster of clients, which includes prominent fashion labels, large-scale property developers, and high-volume eCommerce businesses. Simon uses his technical knowledge, business acumen, and ability to translate complex technical concepts and intricate data trends into practical, scalable strategies to improve and grow each business. You can also see that talent at work when he’s hosting regular workshops at General Assembly or speaking at conferences like Search Marketing Summit or Big Digital.
After studying IT and mathematics in France, Simon earned a Master’s Degree in digital marketing from universities in Paris and San Francisco. At the time, Simon was a professional gamer with a passion for puzzles and escape rooms. It wasn’t long before he was applying his competitive edge and talent for problem-solving to the world of SEO, which he mastered whilst working for a series of startups in France, the US and Australia. He was drawn to SEO because of its “ever-changing environment” and the fact that it allowed him to be both technical and creative.
Key to Simon’s success as an SEO and digital strategist is a focus on data and detailed metrics and an ability to analyse vast chunks of data in order to reveal what’s hidden beneath the surface and extract the trends and insights that matter most to a business and their digital presence.
